Mohair is the lustrous, durable fiber sheared from the Angora goat. It is cleaned and spun into two two-ply strands of yarn that are plied again to form the sturdy 8 ply cord. This cord is often used to make girths and breast collars for horses. Mohair tack wicks away moisture from your horse’s skin and is very compatible with your horse’s hide. Mohair girths can help prevent girth sores. Additionally, mohair girths reduce or eliminate reinjury of scar tissue on horses with previous girth sores.
This is an English style girth with D rings at the center of the girth. These D rings are used to attach tack to the girth.
English girths are made to order and can ship in 1 week after color selections are made.
Girth is constructed from:
- 100% 8 ply mohair cinch cord
- the highest quality leather available - 10 oz, heavily oiled Wickett and Craig leather
- mohair cord can be dyed in black, dark brown, chestnut, and silver gray to match horses, or almost any other custom color to match tack.
- black or brown leather
- solid brass or stainless steel buckles
- stainless of stainless steel D rings attached with nylon webbing
These girths are woven on a loom, then leather components are stitched using a heavy duty leather stitcher.
